A little bit about me!
Hi, I’m Johanna – a physiotherapist & yoga teacher. I’m originally from Munich and moved to Cork City in 2014 for my Irish partner.
After working in public and private practice in Germany and Ireland, I ran my own physio clinic in Cork and noticed something missing: community classes that were based on solid science, supported both physical and mental health and offered practical tools for everyday life. In Germany, that kind of support was common.
So I set up PhysioYoga Cork in 2015 to offer classes and mini-retreats as inclusive as possible for adults of all ages, bodies and experience levels. I wanted expert-led sessions to be affordable and easy to access, which is why I teach in local community spaces. What began as a small side project has grown into my full-time work, thanks to an amazing community and a real demand for something a bit different.
I qualified as a physio in Munich (LMU, 2010) and as a yoga teacher in Dublin (Elbow Room, 2015). Since then, I’ve continued learning from experts in breath- and neuroscience, persistent pain, biomechanics, trauma-sensitive mindfulness, somatic and cognitive mind-body approaches, pelvic health, neurodiversity and more - anything that helps me support people in a more comprehensive way.
I grew up on a small farm in a big family. I love books, lifting heavy weights, knitting, the occasional Negroni and sea swims.
If you have any questions or aren’t sure about attending a class or mini-retreat, feel free to reach out. I’m always happy to chat and help!
